2008 Pontiac Trans Am: According to the rumours GTO will have 2009 model and in all chance will be come to dealers by 2008. If we see at the success stats for GTO re sales then 15,728 units autos were sold in 2004 where as 11,069 in 2005. The planned sales for the vehicle was near to 18,000 for these 2 years. The possible reason for the car not being such a success might be its price ticket. According to Buick-Pontiac-GMC General Boss John Larson, “cancellation of the GTO is due to ’07 airbag standards that can’t be had a meeting with the present car”.
General Motors Vice President for Global Product Development Bob Lutz stated during the Geneva motor show that a new GTO would arrive based on the new Camaro’s and Holden Commodore’s Zeta platform in late 2008, as reported by AutoWeek.
Will the 2008 Pontiac Trans Am GTO built on Zeta-Lite platform that is being developed to bring down the prices by some design changes to Zeta. GTO will in all chance share launch with future Camaro. What’s going to be the engine employed in GTO and will it be similar to one employed in Camaro. What about its power? These questions are important to say anything about the car.
Whatever the case, the 2008 Pontiac Trans Am GTO is a great-performing car even if it hasn’t sold well. When production ends, the performance division of GM will be lacking a model with a V-8 torturing the rear tires for two years. Currently, Ford can’t build Mustangs quick enough, Dodge has the Charger and the Magnum on the road, and its Challenger concept is driving everyone crazy, much like the Camaro. As you can see, from a performance perspective, Pontiac can barely afford not to field a competitive model should all these retro-performers continue to grow in popularity.
