1994 Pontiac Grand Prix

- 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE
The 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix came with 2 models, SE sedan and SE coupe. Both the sedan and coupe come standard with a brand new 3.1-liter V6 that now gets 160-hp. There is no more 5-speed manual transmission. Instead, the 4-speed automatic is standard. Two package options add the 3.4 DOHC V6 engine that gets a boost to 210-hp (previously 200 with the auto tran).
The 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix also had a slight tail light revision, completely reversing the location of the brake lights and turn signals.
1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Coupe
For 1994, Pontiac offers two Grand Prix Coupe models — the SE and the GTP. The SE Coupe reviewed here has an expanded list of standard equipment including dual air bags, four-wheel disc brakes, a tilt steering wheel, power windows and door locks, and an illuminated entry system.
The monochrome-finish, aerodynamic 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix SE Coupe is even smoother. The newest Grand Prix has the road handling qualities of a sports-type vehicle. Its front wheel drive configuration, in combination with its well-designed 4-wheel independent suspension design and power assisted rack-and-pinion steering provides excellent tire contact by the 16-inch Goodyear Eagle GT+4′s with the road under most driving conditions.
1994 Pontiac Grand Am

- 1994 Pontiac Grand Am
The 1994 Pontiac Grand Am came with 4 models, GT Coupe, SE Coupe, GT Sedan, and SE Sedan. The SE still comes standard with a 2.3 SOHC, 115-hp Quad 4, while the 2.3 DOHC, 175-hp Quad 4 is standard on the GT and optional for the SE.
The optional V6 engine for the GT is now a 3.1-liter, 155-hp V6. It comes only with a new 4-speed automatic transmission, which is optional on the I4 engines (a 5-speed manual is standard. A driver’s side airbag also became standard for ’94, but the door-mounted seatbelts persisted.
The 1994 Pontiac Grand Am features power door locks that automatically lock when you put the gear shift lever in “D” and then unlock only after you put the lever back into “P” and turn off the key. Until the key is turned off, you can only unlock the doors manually.
The interior of the 1994 Pontiac Grand Am is as stylish as the exterior. Noteworthy small items include a cupholder/ashtray in the center console, coinholders in the center console, an overhead console to hold garage door opener or glasses, and a cassette holder under the center armrest.
1994 Pontiac Firebird

- 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am
Pontiac chose not to make too many changes to the 1994 Pontiac Firebird. The convertible Firebird was reintroduced though, along with a special 25th Anniversary white and blue Trans Am. As with a hardtop, the red Formula convertible came outfitted with a 275-horsepower version of the 350-cubic-inch Corvette V-8. You can choose between a 6-speed manual transmission or a computer-controlled 4-speed automatic.
The differences between the base model engine and the Formula and Trans Am in the 1994 Pontiac Firebird are rather stark. The latter two were much more powerful, while many users have cited problems getting off the line in the base.
For the 1994 Pontiac Firebird, the 5.7-liter V-8 adopted sequential fuel injection, but retained the same horsepower/torque ratings. Trans Am became a separate model, adding a GT edition, for a full four-model lineup. The GT had so many standard features, Pontiac proclaimed, mat only 5 options were offered.
