1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT
The 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix is available in three trim levels. Base is the SE, available only as a sedan; this will probably be the Rental Fleet Special. Of more interest and with the widest appeal is the GT, in both coupe and sedan. Above that is the go-fast GTP, an option package available for GT models.
The 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix offers three overhead-valve V-6 choices: a smooth, fuel-efficient 3.1-liter/160-horsepower, a strong, quiet 3.8-liter/195-horsepower, and a tire-smoking supercharged 3.8-liter/240-horsepower variant. The 3.1 is the standard engine in the base SE coupe and sedan and is teamed with the smooth-shifting electronically controlled 4-speed 4T60-E automatic.
The 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix’s exterior dimensions are 4991 mm length, 1847 mm width, 1389 mm height, 2807 mm wheelbase, 1567 mm front track, 1549 mm rear track, and 11278 mm curb to curb turning circle.

The 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT offers 2 models, sedan and coupe. Both Pontiac Grand Prix GT sedans and coupes are sportier and more upscale than the SE, with the 3800 Series II V6 and aggressive styling. Optional on both GT models is the GTP performance package, headlined by a 240-horsepower supercharged engine.
Both Pontiac Grand Prix GT sedans and coupes had the same styling, except for rear doors and quarter panels. In fact, track width (distance between wheels on the same axle) grew by more 2 inches in front and 3 inches in the rear, compared to ’96 models.
