2001 Pontiac Aztek
2001 Pontiac Aztek is powered by a 3.4-liter V-6 that’s rated at 185 horsepower with 4-speed automatic transmission. This is more than enough power for the Pontiac Aztek, which is not so much a sporty vehicle as a versatile vehicle. The engine‘s 185 peak horsepower and 210 pound-feet give the Pontiac Aztek ample power, letting it handle hills and highways with decent aplomb.
Base and GT models come with front-wheel drive or General Motors’ Versatrak all-wheel drive without low-range gearing. The front-drive GT has traction control, and AWD models add 4-wheel disc brakes.

The Pontiac Aztek offers many unique features which complement the outdoors lifestyle. These include a removeable cooler between the driver and passenger seats that doubles as a centre console and storage bin; removeable ’saddle-bags’ in the front door pockets; water-resistant seat covers; and waterproof floor mats.
It includes a two-person air mattress-with built-in air pump-that spreads out on the Pontiac Aztek’s flat cargo floor. And to let the night air in but keep the mosquitoes out, a custom-fit tent-with zip-up screened door-fits over the rear end of the vehicle when the rear door and tailgate are open.
Many of the Pontiac Aztek’s features seem geared toward families. For example, the GT model offers an optional, separate backseat audio system that lets rear passengers plug in their headphones and play their own tapes or CD’s. But that’s a feature that will appeal more to adolescents seeking isolation than to college buddies on a road trip.
