2002 Pontiac Sunfire shares its design with the Chevrolet Cavalier. It comes as a coupe or sedan in SE trim, and as a GT coupe. SEs come with a 115-hp overhead-valve 2.2-liter 4-cyl engine. A 140-hp twincam 2.2-liter 4 cyl replaced a 150-hp 2.4 after the start of ‘02 production. It’s standard on the GT, optional on the SE. Manual and automatic transmissions are offered.

New this year for the 2002 Pontiac Sunfire is a standard tilt steering wheel on the SE and an electronic trunk release for all models.  Other than that, the Sunfire awaits a much needed update. The new lightweight engine is more refined, quieter, and livelier than the old one.

The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire wears Pontiac’s sportier personality and features different front and rear styling than Chevrolet’s Cavalier. A rear spoiler is standard, and the SE coupe and sedan display side ribs and rocker-panel moldings. The GT coupe has standard fog lights.

2002 Pontiac Sunfire’s exterior dimensions are 4623 mm length, 1737 mm width, 1346 mm height, 2644 mm wheelbase, 1463 mm front track, 1433 mm rear track, and 10851 mm curb to curb turning circle.

The 2002 Pontiac Sunfire’s instrument panel is attractive and includes a digital LCD odometer and trip odometer, a tachometer and a coolant temperature gauge. The floor console provides great functionality and includes a padded armrest. Other interior features include two forward-mounted cupholders, a concealed coin holder, and extra storage space for CDs, cassettes and other items.

For even more fun while you drive your sporty 2002 Pontiac Sunfire, the Sun and Sound Package boasts a power glass sunroof, AM/FM stereo with CD player and six speakers. Along the same lines, the Sun and Storm Package also comes with a power glass sunroof and upgrades the entertainment with a premium Monsoon AM/FM stereo with CD player.

2002 Pontiac Sunfire’s interior dimensions are 955 mm front headroom, 930 mm rear headroom, 1237 mm front hip room, 1257 mm rear hip room, 1069 mm front leg room, 828 mm rear leg room, 1374 mm front shoulder room, 1392 mm rear shoulder room, and 2469 liters interior volume.
