1998 Pontiac Grand Am

1998 Pontiac Grand Am is an affordable four-door sedan or two-door coupe that has an adequately kicky engine and attractive styling. Pontiac provided two trim levels, SE and GT. The 1998 Pontiac Grand Am rode the same 103.4-inch wheelbase, but were stretched over six inches in length, to 186.9 inches.

Both the 1998 Pontiac Grand Am SE and GT sedan and coupe come standard with a 2.4-liter, Twin Cam, 150-hp I4 or an optional 3.1-liter, 155-hp V6.  A 5-speed manual is standard on the I4, a 4-speed automatic on the V6 (or optional on the I4). Interior dimensions and trunk capacity were nearly identical to the previous year.

1998 Pontiac Grand Am’s exterior dimensions are 4747 mm length, 1735 mm width, 1359 mm height, 2626 mm wheelbase, 1417 mm front track, 1438 mm rear track, and 10759 mm curb to curb turning circle.

In the 1998 Pontiac Grand Am, front seat belts were moved from the b-pillars to the doors, to meet the passive restraint mandate for 1989. It is worth noting that ‘Sport buckets’ borrowed from the Trans Am GTA, were added to the option list this year for SE’s.

All 1998 Pontiac Grand Am models feature power door locks, air conditioning and cloth bucket seats as standard interior equipment. Optional equipment includes a power glass sunroof, a keyless remote entry system and power windows. Daytime Running lights, front fog lights and tinted windows are standard safety features. Additional safety features include an optional electric rear window defogger, traction control and brake/transmission shift interlock.

With the auto tran comes standard traction control.  Other standard features across the line include ABS brakes, dual front airbags, air conditioning, interior consoles, and an anti-theft system.

1998 Pontiac Grand Am’s interior dimensions are 960 mm front headroom, 927 mm rear headroom, 1252 mm front hip room, 1283 mm rear hip room, 1095 mm front leg room, 861 mm rear leg room, 1326 mm front shoulder room, 1359 mm rear shoulder room, and 2478 liters interior volume.
